The Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) have announced that LMCU is the Michigan state-level winner of the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award. This award recognizes model credit union efforts to strengthen local institutions and improve the lives of non-members through community outreach programs.
It was LMCU’s award-winning program, Santa Squad, that netted the honor. Focused on giving back to the community in a different way each day throughout the month of December, our Santa Squad program offered assistance to a number of different causes. Outreach efforts included a clothing drive for the Women’s Resource Center of Grand Rapids, a wheelchair ramp built for a local homeowner in partnership with Home Repair Services of Kent County, surprise treat deliveries to over 50 public service agencies, and much more.
As a state-level CUNA Award winner, LMCU will go on to compete against other state league winners for a CUNA National Award. CUNA National Award winners will be announced at the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference in February 2018.
Watch for this year’s Santa Squad program to return again in December!
