Established in 1991, the Lloyd F. Hutt Scholarship essay contest provides local high school seniors the opportunity to win one of ten $2,000 scholarships to be used toward future academic goals. To date, $266,000 has been awarded to area students.
For 2015, entrants will write a 750 -1,500 word essay, answering the topic question: 25 years from now, how will the world be a better place because of you? Essays will be evaluated by an independent panel of local judges, with greater emphasis placed on creativity, clarity and originality than mechanical or grammatical proficiency.
Application deadline for the essays is January 31, 2015. Winners will be announced in May 2015. Interested high school seniors must complete an application available online November 1, 2014 at lmcu.org/hutt or any LMCU branch location. Questions or concerns can be directed to LMCU’s Matt Cook, Community Relations Director, firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you know of any high school senior with a flair for creativity and original thinking, let them know about this remarkable scholarship opportunity!
