LMCU spokesperson and TV host Carter Oosterhouse is famous for his skillful use of power tools. But he wielded a large pair of scissors to help emphasize the power of community involvement in a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony of a new children’s playground project on Holland’s Windmill Island Park on Saturday, May 11.
Holland Mayor Kurt Dykstra and U.S. Congressman Bill Huizenga joined Carter in the ceremony, which was also attended by LMCU management and staffers, many of whom lent their significant sweat equity to its construction.
This project had its genesis in Oosterhouse’s Carter’s Kids foundation, which has built many similar playgrounds across the country. From his website, Carter explains, “Our purpose of promoting activity, nutrition and fighting childhood obesity, has led us to build playgrounds in communities all over the United States. We have experienced firsthand the positive effects that such playgrounds have brought to their communities.”
Thanks to all who had a hand in seeing this project through to completion.
